Action fantasy tale about a wise-cracking trucker who attempts to rescue his friend's fiance from a 2000 year-old magician who lives beneath San Francisco's Chinatown. He must battle demons, goblins and other terrors as he makes his way through the magician's dark domain. An excellent chop suey movie, very funny, highly entertaining and probably way ahead of it's time.

Lumet's complex and atmospheric thriller is based on a real event. Pacino is superb as the neurotic and incompetent gay bankrobber who needs the money from the robbery to finance his lover's sex change operation. The film's beauty is it's closely detailed psychological observation. Excellent.

It looks like a quiet Christmas but when those cuddly little Gremlins arrive chaos starts. Brilliant bits of black comedy as the partying creatures create total mayhem for the human population, whether with chainsaw, cars, guns, or any other suitable artefacts. Some scenes may scare young children.
