Herschell Gordon Lewis's 1964 classic gets a make over for the new millenium with genre stalwart Robert Englund as the Mayor of Pleasant Valley, a small township in the American south that still holds with the old fashioned values of community, cannibalism and the Confederate way. Liz Lemon, (Tina Fey) is the head writer on a variety series on NBC Studios. With the Jack Donaghy as Vice President of East Coast Television, played by Alec Baldwin, Series four sustains the same standard that has maintained it so far with plenty of exceptional moments. The characters are still all hugely dysfunctional and written with enormous affection and comic effect. The situations beautifully constructed. This set contains all the episodes from the show’s fourth series.

Grunting and behaving like apes, a suburban family's peace and equilibrium is interrupted by the appearance of a second alpha male. Throwing satire, cake, faecal matter and other such crap at one another, the actors are clearly having a swell time sending up the absurdity of society and family values. In the immediate aftermath of her break up from Maxine, Persian, Bisexual Shirin refuses to accept their relationship is irrecoverable and sets about trying to win her back, with varying degrees of failure, whilst navigating the sociopolitical landscape that her life inhabits. Superbly written and directed by Desiree Akhavan - who also plays Shirin, well, superbly. So, all round superb, in my best Brooklyn accent. (Brett Atkinson)
