With the swimming pools, drugs, girls and parties come a bunch of spoilt young brats who seem to take their cues from 'American History X' and black inner city gangster movies. They tattoo themselves, build their bodies, call their girls bitches, sell drugs, fight and use guns. Violence, drugs, language, this movie has them in bucketloads, even sex raises its head. Scott Donaldson says: "A ?lmic take on the notorious Rampart scandal in LA (also the jumping off point for TV's excellent The Shield), the ?lm follows Woody Harrelson as a cop who is permanently in full on sh*t kicker mode, although there is little detecting for this detective so don't expect much in the way of sleuthing cop thriller stuff. Instead we get slow moving character study, more Bad Lieutenant than Beverly Hills Cop.
Not to say it isn't fun, as Harrelson's performance alone
