The cocaine trade of the 70s and 80s had an indelible impact on Miami turning the once sleepy retirement community into one of the world's most glamorous and nefarious cities. In "Cocaine Cowboys" we hear from some of the dealers, killers et al about the effect Colombia's Medellin cartel's $20 billion business had on the city. In particular we hear about Griselda Blanco, the Godmother of the business, a vicious psychopath whose feats helped turn Miami into the murder capital of North America. find out more...

A reverential tribute to the wacko and anarchic master-blaster of Gonzo Journalism; from his early days as investigative reporter and writer of 'Hell's Angels', his drug-fueled 'Fear and Loathing' episodes, the '68 Chicago convention, his bid to become sheriff of Aspen, Colorado, his coverage of the 1972 George McGovern campaign and onto his eventual decline as a writer. A must see for anyone interested in finding out more about this unique character who has so enlivened us with his writings. find out more...

The Symbionese Liberation Army may not be immediately recognisable to most of us, but the young woman they kidnapped back in 1973 is. Patty Hearst has become ingrained on the public conscience, the naïve heiress who turned to the dark side, a convert to anti-capitalist revolution. What this fascinating documentary reveals is largely obvious; unrealistic ideals, egos, amateurism, exploitation and this last has little to do with the SLA themselves. You've seen the movie, read the relentless blurb, find out more...

In 1965 Yash Pal Suri left India for the UK and on his arrival in England he bought two Super-8 cameras, two projectors and two reel to reel recorders. One set of equipment he sent to his family in India, the other he kept for himself and for 40 years he used it to share his new life abroad with those back home - images of snow, miniskirted ladies dancing bare-legged, the first trip to an English supermarket - his taped thoughts and observations. Back in India Yash's relatives responded with the find out more...

10 spacecraft and 24 men (10 appear on camera in this documentary) have orbited, looped around or landed on the moon. As American heroes and members of the super elite most of these men have since shunned public interview. "In the Shadow of the Moon" is a rare and beautiful historical document of the combined Apollo missions, told by the astronauts themselves, with mind blowing NASA footage of the spacecraft, space, the lunar landscape and the view of planet Earth from outer space. A pretty exhaustive documentary that looks back at what some have described as "the artistic crime of the century": tightrope walker Philippe Petit's death defying, utterly illegal, high-wire routine performed between New York City's World Trade Centre's twin towers in 1974. A fascinating and gripping look at a meticulously planned and breathtaking act of defiance. find out more...

A great documentary about the legendary New York Cosmos. Financed by Warner billionaire Steve Ross a football team who played on a cabbage patch, they painted the pitch green for Pele's arrival and first game!!!, went on to sign an international class team and draw crowds of over 50,000 a game in the short lived North American Soccer League. It was a big expensive roller-coaster, girls, parties and booze, and Cosmos' eventual collapse brought down the whole league and set back US soccer about 20 find out more...

An artful documentary about the life of Daniel Johnson, singer/songwriter, artist, cartoonist and general artistic genius, but a man sadly afflicted with a severe mental illness that makes him totally self-delusional and an occasional danger to both himself and others. Daniel, raised in a Christian fundamentalist family in deepest West Virginia, amongst many of his fantasies, sees Devils everywhere, and with his overblown self-importance, not helped by his legions of admirers, vying with his low find out more...

Brothers stick together, even when they can't stand each other and aren't actually brothers. For twenty-odd years, New York punk quartet the Ramones traded under a single surname, dressed in a uniform of leather jackets and jeans, shared tour buses and dressing rooms, and hated each other's guts. This is a largely sympathetic look at a group that could never cash in on the kind of witty, radio-friendly pop-punk sounds since imitated by everybody from the Pixies to Busted. Sympathetic, but even-h find out more...
