There's a lot you can say about Michael Moore. He's sentimental. He massages the truth to fit the points he's making. His reliance on comedy when making serious points sometimes defeats his objectives (more suited to his excellent TV Nation series). He is a propagandist. But in a world dominated by right-wing media conglomerates, neo-conservative thinktanks and war profiteers thirsty for new conflicts, you can easily forgive his mawkish foibles. For twenty-odd years, New York punk quartet the Ramones traded under a single surname, dressed in a uniform of leather jackets and jeans, shared tour buses and dressing rooms, and hated each other's guts. This is a largely sympathetic look at a group that could never cash in on the kind of witty, radio-friendly pop-punk sounds since imitated by everybody from the Pixies to Busted. Sympathetic, but even-h find out more...

Joe Simpson and Simon Yates were two mates who shared the same passion, unassisted extreme climbing, and on the west face of Siula Grande, Peru, they found the ultimate test for their skill and endurance. The ascent was not without incident but it was the return to base camp that went horribly wrong, leaving one of the men facing a seemingly impossible journey to salvation. Touching the Void, a mixture of top class dramatic reconstruction and talking head documentary, is based on Joe Simpson's b find out more...
