ANGEL-A (2006)

A supernatural, fantastical tale of love found in the sleezy and glitzy streets of central Paris. 'Angel–A' is quintessential Luc Besson, ie little in the way of story, but my, the cinematography from Thierry Arbogast does look absolutely stunning. find out more...

Action fantasy tale about a wise-cracking trucker who attempts to rescue his friend's fiance from a 2000 year-old magician who lives beneath San Francisco's Chinatown. He must battle demons, goblins and other terrors as he makes his way through the magician's dark domain. An excellent chop suey movie, very funny, highly entertaining and probably way ahead of it's time.

Well, Elizabeth had a car crash and unbeknownst to her, she died in it. David can see Elizabeth and once they've both agreed she is indeed dead, they set about investigating her no longer alive…ness. DJ Walters has a particularly active imagination, he is convinced that his haggard and crabby neighbour Horace Nebbercracker, the terroriser of all the neighbourhood kids, is responsible for Mrs Nebbercracker's mysterious disappearance. Any toy that touches Nebbercracker's property promptly disappears, swallowed up by the cavernous house in which Horace lives, DJ has seen it with his own eyes! Monster House is a great CGI children's adventure, but be warned….it genuinely is pretty scary. find out more...

Jack's back after an unholy union of ‘friends' and rogues save him from Davey Jones' locker. In this final instalment the pirates must form an unlikely brotherhood to defend their carefree existence from the dastardly and ruthless British. Unfortunately for us this means a whole wad of Keira Knightley, she even gives a rousing speech to the rabble before battle, a delivery that brings to mind one of those handbag dogs being garrotted by its own collar. An enormous running time, a god awful score find out more...

Will and Jake Grimm travel the land collecting and imparting magical tales to the villages they visit, but their real money spinner is the age old con, creating elaborate scenarios whereby they rid the locals of various imagined demons of the night. This being the 19th Century and a Terry Gilliam film it is inevitable that the two are eventually confronted by the dark tales of fear and superstition that they weave. When Will and Jake arrive at one particular village they find the folk under the find out more...

A modern retelling of Willy Shaker’s magical tale of revenge that casts Helen Mirren as the sorcerer ‘Prospera’. Found it a bit dull to be honest but should do nicely when it inevitably crops up as a set text.

HBO's most watched series since 'The Sopranos' is set in deepest Louisiana, where cute waitress Sookie's ability to read people's minds puts her off any potential men... that is until vampire William arrives on the scene.
Many vampires, though much maligned by rednecks, Christians - God Hates Fangs - and other non-liberals have 'come out of the coffin' and entered mainstream society. A number of civil rights organisations champion 'vampire rights' and a huge parallel exists between vampi find out more...
