A frustrated, highly strung, spectacularly unsuccessful puppeteer inadvertently finds a passage way into the mind of John Malkovich and, uniquely skilled as he is in the art of manipulation, this seems like the perfect opportunity to escape his dead-end life and dull wife. There is little point in trying to explain the story further, you'll just have to watch this fantastically surreal, absurd, dark, gobsmackingly original comedy - the brainchild of a quite obviously seriously warped puppy. FARGO (1996)

Certification18 Our Rating

An excellent black comedy, handsome thriller and a tall story that keeps you guessing as it unwinds. The genuinely ridiculous plot (a man pays a couple of goons to 'pretend' to kidnap his wife in order to get his paws on his in-laws' 'ransom' money) is completely credible as mighty plans fall apart, spiralling ever more beyond the protagonist's control and leaving us marvelling at the complex stupidity of human nature. A modern classic.

Following the success of his indie debut "Welcome To The Dollhouse" Todd Solondz has created another dark and decidedly uncomfortable film. Whilst the title may suggest this is a light-hearted comedy, be warned that it is anything but. This is a film about the depraved and depressing lives of a bunch of unlikeable characters. Loosely centred around three sisters, it cleverly follows their bizarre relationships, encounters and failures. Solondz is establishing a reputation for intelligent scripts find out more...

Overwhelmed by seven domineering sisters, Barry Egan has the social skills of a hamster and it is only when love comes looking for him that he has the chance to escape his emotional malaise. Sweet by nature and quietly unassuming, Barry harbours an intense rage born of frustration and it is his violent abuse of a number of inanimate objects from which much of this films humour springs... well, that and the proprietor of a 'dial a porn' service.
