KICK-ASS (2010)

Certification15 Our Rating

New York teenager Dave decides to become a superhero like those that he's read about in comics and soon finds himself drawn into the battle between Big Daddy, his 10-year-old killing machine of a daughter Hit-Girl and crime overlord Frank D'Amico.

It's the off-season at the lonely Beauregard Hotel in Bournemoth, and only the long-term tenants are still in residence. Life is stirred up, however, when the beautiful Ann Shankland arrives to see her alcoholic ex-husband, John Malcolm, who is secretly engaged to Pat Cooper, the woman who runs the hotel. There's hardly anything I would improve about this film. The visuals, concepts, soundtrack, characters, pace, humour and animation are all some of the best I've ever seen in any film; I was worried the hype would ruin it for me, as it always does, but not even the group of kids in the theatre who wouldn't stop loudly talking could ruin it for me. It is visually engaging and find out more...

THE CROW (1993)

The Crow is a mysterious bird that allows Eric a murdered rock-star to come back to life, all be it temporarily, with superhuman qualities to avenge his death. Destined for cult-status from the moment Lee died. A sinister gothic epic. find out more...

When Britt Reid’s zillionaire publishing father dies his consumptive slacker lifestyle loses some of its edge, but, when he hooks up with gadget wiz and martial arts master Kato, he finally finds a purpose as the ‘Green Hornet’, scourge of LA’s criminal underworld. 'The Green Hornet' is a surprisingly lacklustre action comedy, despite Gondry’s direction, though Christoph Waltz as the insecure arch villain is a comic joy. It does the business, I just hoped it would be a little less jobsworth. find out more...
