It all really kicks off in Jackson's adaptation of Tolkien's second book; Frodo and Samwise team up with Gollum in their continuing quest, Aragorn's posse prepare for a last stand at Helmsdeep, the Ents get energised and a mighty new white wizard emerges from the forests. Ran, Kurosawa's last great epic, is a Jidaigeki (Japanese period drama) depicting the fall of Hidetora Ichimonj, an ageing Sengoku-era warlord who abdicates as ruler in favor of his three sons.
