In 1998 Marco Pantani, the most flamboyant and popular cyclist of his era, won both the Tour de France and Giro d'Italia, a titanic feat of physical and mental endurance that no rider has repeated since. He was a hero to millions, the saviour of professional cycling following the doping scandals which threatened to destroy the sport. However, less than six years later, aged just 34, he died alone, in a cheap Italian hotel room.

This is a crackingly entertaining detective adventure though the real star has to be a CG enhanced Victorian London, especially the finale on a half-built Tower Bridge. find out more...

Starsky and Hutch are two very different detectives, one would throw the full force of the law at you for dropping litter, the other would be more likely to mug you. Reluctantly brought together in the hunt for a kingpin behind a revolutionary new form of cocaine (with the help of super-cool, super-chilled Huggy Bear), the two cops lurch from one disaster to another; their relationship developing from one of antipathy, to friendship and ultimately, love. The original and the best screen adaptation of John Buchan's jingoistic thriller of German plots and dashing Englishmen. Considered by the director as one of his very best this launched the theme of the innocent man on the run from both the law and the villians. Excellent. find out more...

The astounding number of characters in the first few episodes, as well as the number of corpses, suggested that the writer was covering for lack of plot (Agatha Christie syndrome). Sure enough, the denouement was a genuine whimper. Failure even to try to fill several of the more gaping holes in the plot. Watc find out more...

A superb action packed thriller with Ford as the hounded Dr Kimble who, wrongly convicted of murdering his wife, escapes from a prison bus and tries to find out why she was killed and who the murderer really was. Jones is superb (Oscar winning!) as the laconic but obsessed Fed, following him like a bloodhound. The big stunts will take your breath away, and the breakneck pace never slackens. find out more...

A suprisingly snappy and intelligent, if Hollywood generic, conspiracy thriller. Clive Owen plays the manically driven British interpol detective determined, along with Naomi Watts' New York DA, to nail the bosses of a powerful international bank that launders dirty money, deals arms and murders to cover its tracks. A classic shoot-up scene takes place in New York's Guggenheim Museum and there's a nifty chase through Istanbul's Grand Bazaar. find out more...
