Where 'The Hulk' differs from recent comic book adaptations such as Spiderman, Batman and the awful Daredevil, is that there is no crime fighting ethic. The creature of the title is a genetic mutation unleashed and driven by anger and rage. What's more the genetic mutation was partly created by a fruitcake professor (Nolte) whose penchant for self-experimentation ensures his son Bruce (Bana) inherits a @*$*@%-up gene pool. There's hardly anything I would improve about this film. The visuals, concepts, soundtrack, characters, pace, humour and animation are all some of the best I've ever seen in any film; I was worried the hype would ruin it for me, as it always does, but not even the group of kids in the theatre who wouldn't stop loudly talking could ruin it for me.
