Preposterous but very entertaining paranormal-actioner, presided over by a tangle of giant squid. A bunch of thieves, led by Treat Williams, board a luxury cruise liner in the South Seas, only to find that all the passengers have had the water sucked out of them by an unknown entity (the aforementioned squid). Deep in the Louisiana Bayou something big and scaley lurks........and its hungry! A mix of hokey locals, buff scientists and too-rich-to-think-straight hunters face off against genetically engineered fish that are just as efficient at dispatching humans on the land as they are in the water. An indie thriller so dark and dangerously involving that the subtitles are completely unobtrusive. An inoffensive middle-class family set off to their secluded lakeside holiday home for a restful retreat. However the arrival of Peter and Paul puts paid to that as the pair embark on a truly chilling campaign of terror, intermittently turning to camera to consult the viewer as to what should happen next, cleverly implicating their audience in the unfolding horror. Vitually a shot by shot remake of Haneke's dark and dangerous tale of a family's holiday being wrecked by a pair of sadistic psychopaths. A salvage boat crew stumble across the sort of booty that could retire them for life, but not as they had originally hoped. The find in question is an immense super liner that was believed lost over 40 years ago. It is only when they are aboard that the gang discover this is a ship haunted by a deadly past and evil still prowls its decks.
