Digitally restored and remastered, Ozu's last black and white film is a tale of family disintergration as two sisters return to their family home to live with their father. One has become pregnant from an affair while the other has just left her husband. Once there they discover their long missing mother is not dead as they had been led to believe and are even more stunned when they learn what their mother's life has been.
